The Blessed Martyr John has lived around the middle of the 18th Century. At the same time, Mihnea Voivode was the leader of Walachia, whom was nicknamed “Turcitul”, whom started oppressing the people with tributes, in order to pay the annual tribute to the sultan. Mihnea started the revolt against the Turks, but the latter came toWalachia and did great perdition in among the Christian nation. Young John was among the captives at the time. After he was tortured, he was killed by hanging in 1662.
