On Priests’ and Monks’ Duties

Do not ever trust in those who praise you, do not even tilt your ear lie a naïve to those who mock you by praising you; because they, while they overwhelm you with their praises, making you go out of your minds behind your back, in case you would rapidly look behind, you would take them by surprise, either they would stretch their necks as storks, or they signal each other with their hands that you have ears like a donkey, or stick their tongue out as long as they can, just like tired dogs.
