Life and Akathist of Saint Stylianos

            Saint Stylianos was born in Adrianopole, in Paphlagonia (Asia Minor), around the year 500. being blessed when he was in his mother’s womb, as he grew up, his grace of God increased, getting to be chosen vessel of the Holy Spirit. Deep in his soul, Saint Stylianos heard the call to the beautiful, virtuous life devoid of struggles with the passions, temptations and trials, but having at its end the delight of the eternal life next to God. The Church placed him among the saints and arranged to be celebrated on 26 November. The Christian iconography always represented him holding an infant, as Saint Sylianos is considered the protector of all children.
